August Golf Report

August was a rather light month for golf, with two matches, both ending in a predictable victory for the visiting and undefeated (in 2009) author. I was at the Philippines in early August to speak at two seminars, and I changed out of my bow tie and into golf attire to play the Palmer Course at The Orchard Golf and Country Club. Suffice it to say that after I made birdies on the second and the sixth, the outcome of that match was a foregone conclusion.

On the final day of August I had to play my best to defeat Tom Cook on his home course, Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis. For my first match in the continental United States this year, Cook employed his full repertoire of treacherous gambits, but my unparalleled run of pars eventually prevailed, and this heroic shot from the left rough rough on the 9th was meaningless because our match had ended at the 8th.
