Minke Whale Curry

Were it not for my noted reserve in pecuniary matters, I would have filled my bags with this canned Minke whale curry. Equally surprising is the jingusikan curry at right. I had always thought that jingusikan was the cooking style (grilled) for the mutton, and to have it in a curry seems a pleasure too much. The crab curry doesn’t seem very exotic sitting next to the Minke whale and jingusikan. The fun of shopping in Japan (I found these curries at a snowy roadside parking area in Shiga-ken) is enhanced by the constant finding of tasty morsels such as these curries and the well-remembered sunscreen flavored iced tea (it was meant to be coconut) and the short-lived mango crunky ice cream bar.
