It was a dark and stormy night

The weather at Adelaide and Melbourne this past week made me think of Edward Bulwer-Lytton, and it was with some pleasure that I took this restorative to fend off the cold. Here are some other highlights from my week.

Who’s that planking across Jacob’s Creek? It has been suggested to me that I plank in every state. I’ve been to Queensland, South Australia, Victoria, and New South Wales, but so far have only managed to plank at Jacob’s Creek in the splendid Barossa Valley of South Australia.

You may recall that Sam Weller was once invited to a friendly swarry, consisting of a boiled leg of mutton with the usual trimmings (from Pickwick). I’m happy to report that I was invited to a friendly swarry last week as well, although mine consisted of socialization and hors d’oeuvres.

One purpose of this trip was to bring my golf clubs to salubrious places. The golf courses of the Melbourne sandbelt are indubitably a salubrious place to take one’s clubs. Yesterday at what many consider to be the best course in the southern hemisphere, my clubs performed well as I took my record at Australia to three wins against one sole defeat.
