Traditional pre-race meals and the beauty function on my new phone's camera
Yesterday I fueled up with some pasta and rice before today’s race. I ran the 10.75 km course in 56:48. This race is called the New Year Run. 2017 is still a long ways away, and that is kind of how the run felt, like running all the way from now until 2017.

Losing track of iconic dishes
One of the pleasant things about travel is the food. I’m often eating a favorite dish that I haven’t had in a long time, or something completely new. In the new category, I can put ika no me.

Birdies, pars, television, and potato chips
Some things stay the same, and some things change. I’ve made a lot of birdies over the years, and celebrated them all in their own way. Last month in Nebraska was no exception.

Or more precisely, it starts with the foot of a goose. These have lots of collagen, I’ve heard, and are good for the skin. {.asset-media-link} It wasn’t all savoury. There were also sweets.

Continuing research: the imbibing idiot bias
{.asset-media-link} You will of course be familiar with the paper on the imbibing idiot bias. That is, people who hold an alcoholic beverage are perceived to be less intelligent than those who do not hold one.

For those who refuse wasabi out of a tube
When I travel to Japan I eat wasabi every day. On a recent trip I spent some time on the Izu Peninsula, where a lot of wasabi is grown, and there the restaurants provide one with a piece of wasabi and a grater.

I love the Mediterranean in spring
{.asset-media-link} This, of course, is not the Mediterranean. But with such a view, one could be in Italy or Spain. If you are looking for some fine food and a nice ambience near Kamakura, check out タベルナ ロンディーノ.
