A tale of two cities told in three tastes

Lay’s Thailand continue their periodical release of new potato chip flavors. I was in Bangkok earlier this month and tried the crab curry flavor. I saw the extreme hot chili flavor and didn’t bother trying it.

On collaboration, part 2

Anyone else thrilled to see the new Thomas & Friends X J.League collaboration? That’s an official collaboration. Then there are just good ideas. Like the Lobster Hot Plate flavor from Lay’s Thailand.

On collaboration

I’m a big fan of collaboration. These are some of my favorites. There was the SAPPORO X ROYCE’ collaboration some years ago. The idea was brilliant. Two of my favorite brands.

Of geography and food

I was recently in Japan for a few weeks. I was traveling most of the time, which is a great way to try lots of different foods. As I was looking through some photos from this trip, I realized that food gives a pretty good indication of the geography of the trip.

A big city, and a small one

Bangkok is a big city, and I enjoyed this view of it for the past few months. There are big buildings in all directions, but this direction has the most.

Botany, maps, and potato chips

I was recently studying the grasses of Japan. This is a meadow of Sasa senanensis. I flew three flights after that, arrived back to Bangkok, and realizing I had no more flights this year, made a map of all the flights I was on in 2016.

Iconic views

Iconic views come along with iconic dishes. Out for dinner in Ponto-chō. Out for a walk in Kyoto. And enjoying the view from Hakodateyama.

Two greens in Japan

Fred Varcoe interviewed me before he wrote his article for the August 2016 issue of Euro Biz Japan. You can download it here: Know your greens (pdf, 3 MB).

Birdies, pars, television, and potato chips

Some things stay the same, and some things change. I’ve made a lot of birdies over the years, and celebrated them all in their own way. Last month in Nebraska was no exception.
