I enjoyed a delicious lunch of smørrebrød on a recent visit to Denmark, followed by a dessert of rødgrød med fløde. The Wikipedia entry for rødgrød cautions that “the name of the dish in Danish features many of the elements that make Danish pronunciation difficult for non-native speakers.

The 15th International Turfgrass Research Conference is this month in Karuizawa, Japan. A few delegates have asked if I have some advice about foods to try for those making their first visit to Japan.

I arrived home this afternoon after a long trip. The calendar on my office door was still showing February. Of course it would be, because that’s when I last departed.

I don’t have any more flights planned in 2024, so I pulled up my R script from last year to generate a map of the flights I made this year. Then I wondered what the flights would look like for the past decade, from 2015 through 2024.

Occasional readers of this blog might be surprised to see me writing about something other than potato chips. Or seaweed. Regular readers of this blog,1 friends, family, and traveling companions may be expecting to see some pad kee mao.

Longtime readers of this site will have noticed a new design introduced this month. What’s this all about? I wanted to move the blog to a static platform, and I chose the Wowchemy on Hugo.

I took a long train ride across 6 degrees of latitude. Bangkok is about 13 degrees north, so I’ll call this a narrow road to the slightly north. When I got to Bangkok, I went straight to the snack aisle.

A lot has happened since my last post about a surprising “Chef’s Signature” flavor. That includes my purchase and careful happy hour tasting session of a Devil barbecue chip, retasting the signature salted egg and trying a new signature roasted chili flavor.

I made this map to show some of the places I’ve traveled to over the past few years. This is a test to see if it displays here. In other news, when I arrived in Thailand on a recent trip, I found this new flavor of Lay’s potato chip.

On a recent visit to Thailand, there was this new flavor. That was impressive. I didn’t think it could get any better. And then, today I discovered these limited editions with a cooling sensation.
