What's going on here?

Longtime readers of this site will have noticed a new design introduced this month. What’s this all about? I wanted to move the blog to a static platform, and I chose the Academic theme on Hugo.

The Narrow Road to the Slightly North

I took a long train ride across 6 degrees of latitude. Bangkok is about 13 degrees north, so I’ll call this a narrow road to the slightly north. When I got to Bangkok, I went straight to the snack aisle.

So many developments

A lot has happened since my last post about a surprising “Chef’s Signature” flavor. That includes my purchase and careful happy hour tasting session of a Devil barbecue chip, retasting the signature salted egg and trying a new signature roasted chili flavor.

A map, an intriguing new flavor, and a boat ride

I made this map to show some of the places I’ve traveled to over the past few years. This is a test to see if it displays here. In other news, when I arrived in Thailand on a recent trip, I found this new flavor of Lay’s potato chip.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any better

On a recent visit to Thailand, there was this new flavor. That was impressive. I didn’t think it could get any better. And then, today I discovered these limited editions with a cooling sensation.

On collaboration, part 2

Anyone else thrilled to see the new Thomas & Friends X J.League collaboration? That’s an official collaboration. Then there are just good ideas. Like the Lobster Hot Plate flavor from Lay’s Thailand.

On collaboration

I’m a big fan of collaboration. These are some of my favorites. There was the SAPPORO X ROYCE’ collaboration some years ago. The idea was brilliant. Two of my favorite brands.

Hotels with a view don't come much better than this

Last week I had a chance to stay at the Onyria Palmares Beach House Hotel. I don’t often have the chance to stay at such a nice hotel. The views were so good, and as the light changed I often found myself wandering back to the balcony of my room to take another picture.

Nine years, one month, and 760 flights

I counted all the flights I’ve been on since mid-October of 2008. That’s a little more than nine years’ ago, and it came to 760 flights in 3,317 days. This table shows all the routes, arranged in order of frequency.

Of geography and food

I was recently in Japan for a few weeks. I was traveling most of the time, which is a great way to try lots of different foods. As I was looking through some photos from this trip, I realized that food gives a pretty good indication of the geography of the trip.
