After a few disappointing months in which victory escaped me, I’m happy to report that I’ve started a new winning streak. Or perhaps more accurately, after two matches in June, I’m confident that I’ll be undefeated for the forseeable future.

Since my last air travel update, slightly more than a month ago, I’ve been on 20 flights, and in one particularly insert creative adjective here stretch of 19 days, I visited eight different countries.

I went botanizing at Hawaii a few weeks ago, searching for grasses and observing how and where they were growing in relation to their surrounding environment. The trip started off on a rakish note at Oahu as my cousins and I stepped outside and ordered someone to take a photo of us in our fatigues.

{.asset-media-link} After I started the year without a loss in January or February, my mind was not entirely free of some hopes that the entire year may progress in such an undefeated manner.

A report on this month in air travel finds that my mileage account has soared past 50,000 miles for 2012 and I’ve been at five countries in the last 30 days.

You will be aware of my staunch adherence to a vicinal diet, and thus it will be no surprise to find that I have recently enjoyed the new (I think it says new?

I was undefeated in February and remain undefeated for the year. I’ve yet to play a match in 2012, but I have a few matches to play in March, so my revamped swing will really be put to the test.

I missed my “this month in air travel” update in January because I was so busy with . . . air travel. I’ve flown more than 35,000 miles since January 7 which puts me on pace for an astonishing 300,000 miles this year.

This year is starting out just as I had envisioned it. Undefeated in January* — undefeated for the year. Certainly reason to celebrate. I should probably mention here that I did not play any matches in January as I continue my self-imposed sabbatical from the game.

How should I phrase this? In December, I was less undefeated than I would have liked. In fact, I was less undefeated than at any time in recent memory. In fact, in singles matches I may have been completely defeated.
